Audiological Laboratory, Ltd. is a full service audiological facility, affiliated with the doctors at Suburban Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists, Ltd. We have eight audiologists on staff, and there is an audiologist available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Our patients receive the most comprehensive care through our team approach to treating their audiological needs. The physician provides medical examinations and treatment when necessary. The audiologist provides diagnostic testing and counseling or rehabilitative services to meet the patient's needs.

Routine Hearing Testing

Pediatric Hearing Testing

  • Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) - ages 6 months to 2 years
  • Conditioned Play Audiometry (CPA) ages 2.5 years and up
  • Otoacoustic Emission Testing (OAE) - all ages, from birth
Tympanometry
  • A test to evaluate the status of the eardrum and middle ear system.

Acoustic Reflex Threshold Testing

  • A test that provides diagnostic information about the middle ear, inner ear, and hearing nerve.

Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs)

  • A screening procedure that assesses inner ear function. This test provides information about the status of the inner ear when a behavioral hearing test cannot be obtained.

Epley maneuver

  • A technique used to treat a particular kind of positional dizziness.

We stress patient education. This is especially important for our potential hearing instrument patients. We ensure that our patients have a good understanding of the nature of hearing loss, teach them coping strategies to hear at their best, inform them of the key ingredients of a successful hearing instrument fitting, and help them determine when it is appropriate to pursue hearing instruments.

We have accounts with several hearing instrument companies so that we can order the most appropriate instrument for each individual patient. After the hearing instruments have been ordered and dispensed, we provide comprehensive counseling and training, as the patient goes through the important processes of adapting to the new hearing instruments.

A good relationship between the patient and the audiologist is critical to having a successful outcome with hearing instruments. The audiologist is there to provide technical skills, educate and lend the emotional support necessary to achieve success!
